This modernised, traditional farm cottage is ideal for couples or a small family holiday, nestled in a secluded village location close to the shore, yet conveniently only five minutes from Oban. This comfortable holiday cottage with a spacious, open plan living/dining room/kitchen retains many cosy, traditional farm cottage features. Situated close to the village of Dunbeg, set in 1.4 acres of secluded natural grounds, it is an ideal base for families to relax and enjoy beautiful Argyll.
The cottage is on the outskirts of Dunbeg, which is a small coastal village, just 5 minutes from Oban. Dunbeg has a village shop, hairdresser, children’s playground, yacht marina, small hotel with restaurant and a garden centre with coffee shop/café. Nearby attractions within a five minute walk are Dunstaffnage Castle and the Ocean Explorer Centre. Also close by is the village of Connel, which has a further selection of hotels, bars and shops and the amazing natural attraction of the Falls of Lora, a tidal race underneath the Connel Bridge.
Oban is a bustling west coast harbour town, and has lots going on for the visitor at any time of the year. Central for touring Argyll and known as the ’Gateway to the Isles’, with ferries leaving daily to many islands, such as Mull, Iona, Staffa and Lismore. In keeping with its reputation as the Seafood Capital of Scotland, there are some excellent restaurants, cafés and pubs nearby, in which to relax after a pleasant day out exploring the wonderful scenery and visiting some of the interesting attractions which Argyll has to offer. Beaches are everywhere but the lovely sandy town beach at Ganavan is just a mile away along the coastal road from the Corran Esplanade. Dunollie Castle, McCaig’s Folly and Oban Distillery are all situated within the town.
Inveraray, the ancient capital of Argyll, with its castle and jail, is a fun day out for the family. A trip to the Isle of Seil, over the ’Bridge over the Atlantic’ and a fast fun boat trip viewing whirlpools and wildlife, is another day out for family fun! Further afield but within an hour’s drive, visitors can enjoy the scenery of Glencoe, take a trip to Fort William to see Ben Nevis or catch the Harry Potter train. For an active day out, there are lots of opportunities to enjoy fun activities such as kayaking, sailing, coasteering, segway and river rafting. Beach 1 mile. Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
