Positive: Generally the cabin was very nice, but the furnishing and kitchen much less so.The hot tub was very good, very enjoyable. But angry that Booking.com on their advert included the hot tub in the price, but we had to pay another £80 for it, making it a very expensive 4 days for us. Booking.com said thet would refund this cost if we could prove we had paid, which we could. But as we paid by credit card and the banks do not issue statements until a set day each month and cannot change that policy, we could not provide our statement proving payment until the 15th of the month. Booking.com told us that would be too late, so withdrew their refund offer??. I now have our bank statement clearly showing that Sykes Cottages had taken our £80. The banking App I use (M&S Banking), stops you from taking a screen shot, so unable to send to them that way either. I am very agrieved as Booking.com have made it impossible to provide the evidence they required to refund me as they had agreed to do, by putting a set, unachievable time limit on us being able to provide the evidence they require was unfair and unnessary! Why should they need to place an artificial time limit on things?
Negative: The beds were extremely uncomfortable, worn out springs and poor, saggy, mattresses. The furniture had ugly grubby covers on them, which made us feel uncomfortable just sitting on them. The kitchen felt jaded, particularly the cooker. It all needed an upgrade. This is not a cheap property and we expected better. But the cabin itself was lovely, well laid out and we liked it very much. The grounds were lovely as was the veranda area.
Summary: Slightly spoilt by the hot tub experience. But overall we loved ithe cabin. Just update please.
