We are experienced owners and have been hosting since early 2016 with amazing guest reviews.
Our location is perfect. If you are looking for the pristine lake getaway in the mountains but don’t want to get ‘cabin fever’ then Sunshine Lake House with over 4200 square feet is for you. We are located on the picturesque shoreline of Lake Nottely. The lake covers 4180 acres and has over 106 miles of shoreline. Our home is a short 20-minute drive to the towns of Blue Ridge, Blairsville and Murphy. Within these towns you can find a great variety of restaurants as well as grocery stores, activities, boutique shopping, movie theater and much more including a drive-in theater.
You will be staying on the Lake – boating, fishing and kayaking are just some of the things to do right from the property. We have Kayak’s for you use (Paddles and Life vests provided). Other activities in the area include hiking, tubing, rafting, antiquing, crafting, wineries, biking, and much more.
We have a dock to tie up your boat or personal water craft if you decide to bring it. There is a public boat launch only 5-minutes from the house. Boat and jet ski rentals are less than 3 minutes away and of course conveniently located on Lake Nottely. Our dock is useable during the warm months (May through September, and sometimes beyond) as the lake levels are controlled by the Tennessee Valley Authority due to power generation needs for the area. Lake is always useable year-round, it’s just that our dock may not be. Great news is that the hot tub is always open !!
Our beautifully decorated home is perfect for families with children and without. We equip, maintain and furnish this home as if it were our primary residence. We know what travelers want and need and we go the extra mile to deliver.
The Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, Swan Drive-In Theatre (since 1955), and many shops from mom and pop stores to upscale shopping are nearby for your enjoyment. Mercier Orchards is nearby for a great selection of fresh produce, “pick your own” in the fields or just stocking the cabin for your stay with homemade pies, pastries and other yummy treats. How about day or an hour at the spa? Yes, there is a full-service spa close for your enjoyment. Want to try Zip lining the luscious tree canopy of the mountains – Yes you can do that too. Are you a gambler? If so, Harrah’s Cherokee River Casino is only a 40 minute drive for a day or evening of blackjack, slots, craps, table games or roulette.
Our home is a 4 bedroom, 3 full bath (plus a half-bath) cabin that comfortably sleeps up to 10 guests.
The living room has vaulted ceilings with cathedral windows looking to the lake and a stunning rock fireplace (gas) to warm you up or simply add to the cabin ambience.
Each bedroom is spacious and superbly furnished. The master suite on the main floor has French doors opening to the upper deck, a king sized bed, as well as a private bath with walk in shower, a large (big enough for two) jacuzzi bath and 2 sinks. Two additional bedrooms are located upstairs. One has a king bed with a futon couch (this room able to sleep 4). The other upstairs bedroom has a queen bed along with toy box and small table for children to play games. There is a full open bathroom upstairs with shower and bathtub. Bedroom 4 is located in the newly finished basement. This room boasts a private door to the lower deck where the hot tub is located, a king sized bed and private bathroom with shower and bathtub.
There are 6 (yes six) flat screen TV’s located throughout the cabin (each bedroom has a 40” plus the living room and game room have 60” units) with DirectTV, and each with a DVD player. There is WIFI that is fiber optic (the fastest internet speed available in the area.) There is also a family-oriented DVD library available for you to enjoy.
Challenge your “cabin mates” to a match on the 8’ Pool Table or the large Air Hockey game. Rekindle that arcade side in you by welcoming others to a contest on the full size Arcade machine, featuring over 60 of your favorite arcade games, including Pacman, Centipede, Galaga, Space Invaders, Frogger, Donkey Kong, Ms. Pacman and many many other. Or just sit at the beautiful wood bar top crafted from a Hickory tree trunk and enjoy a beverage of your choice and watch the game on the large 60” flat screen TV in this perfectly equipped game room.
A seven (7) person hot tub is located on the lower deck facing the lake.
The fully equipped kitchen provides plenty of room for you to prepare your favorite recipes or cook on the gas BBQ grill on the deck. Your crew will dine family style at the large farm-style, built by hand, table with additional bar stools at the counter. Enjoy the lake view from the rocking chairs on the deck or relax with a good book.
Who doesn’t want to do laundry when on vacation? We have a full-sized washer and dryer available for your use – but of course you won’t be needing that, right?
Bring a book, your favorite DVD’s and don’t forget the S’mores ingredients. This will be a vacation you won’t forget.
Regretfully we do not allow pets. Our children with allergies simply cannot tolerate them and many our returning guests count of us to uphold that policy.
