Location
The apartment is in a quiet area north of the main marina of Vulcano. For a small island, Vulcano has a lot to offer. Not only is there an active volcano to climb, with magnificent views from the summit. There is also the Spiaggia Delle Acque Calde, where you can bathe in bubbling sea water, heated by volcanic gases. The mud baths close by are said to have therapeutic qualities. There are good restaurants and bars just a 5-minute drive from the apartment.
As part of the Aeolian Islands, Vulcano has regular ferries to other islands (port 6 minutes drive), including Lipari, which has a fascinating museum in its citadel above the port, or further afield, Stromboli, with its active volcano, pretty villages and stunning black beaches.
The islands can be reached by ferry or hydrofoil from Milazzo and Naples. The closest airport is at Catania.
