The house, named Champ des Forges, was built in 1850 and used to be a Master Country House (the neighbour's house close by is where the stables were). Over the years it was renovated several times, with respect for the details and atmosphere of earlier days.
The last big upgrade took place in 1990, when the house belonged to a famous French actor Roger Hanin, who was related to the former president François Mitterand, who also frequently resided there.
It is in the south of Burgundy, aside from being the gastronomic capital of France, one of the most important historical regions of the country. It's here that up until the 15th century, kings and queens ruled the land. You are in between Dijon and Lyon, near the historical wine route and a stone throw from Paris by train.
There are a number of medieval castles you can visit, as well as pittoresk towns & markets. The area also offers beautiful walking trails, that cut straight through fields & forests. There are supermarkets & shops in the area, and numerous restaurants for an unforgettable culinary experience.
