2 Bedroom House
Built in 1895, our 2100sq ft single family home is warm and comfy for an overnight or weekend stay located in the Arts Historic District of Nelsonville and close to Ohio University, Stuart's Opera House, Hocking College and the Nelsonville Music Festival are close by. You rent our entire renovated home giving you central cooling and heating, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, an additional full/queen air mattress, a fully equipped chef's kitchen stocked with Starbucks coffee beans for a fresh roasted coffee and breakfast goodies. The well-dressed dining room is perfect for family game night and meals as well as a large front porch, a great living room, den with tv and wifi and google home--Just say, "Hey Google...", a great backyard patio with heater for stargazing and cooking out, a gas grill and a therapeutic hot tub on a covered porch. This home is fully furnished and is situated next to the Wayne Forest, golf courses and minutes from Lake Hope State Park in Zaleski State Forest. You will find miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking and Lake Hope is perfect for fishing, canoeing, kayaking, picnicking and swimming. The entire home is yours to enjoy. We will be close by, but not in the house with you.
The Neighborhood
Nelsonville, Ohio was settled by a man with the last name of Nelson from Shrewsbury, MA. The house is in the heart of Nelsonville's Public Square which is blocks from the local amenities like: Stuart's Opera House, Rhapsody Restaurant, the Mine Tavern (with pub food offerings), The Paper Circle gift boutique, a few art galleries, hair salon, drug store and more. The town is family and pet friendly and has the feel of a New England hamlet with a deep history of Appalachian culture, mining, and the industrial revolution.
Getting Around
Rhapsody Restaurant is very affordable offering delicious food prepared by a culinary program and has a full bar and diverse selection of wines. It is in walking distance to the house and next to the Stuart's Opera House. Ohio University and the Hocking Hills caves/trails are within 15-25 minutes of the house. You are centrally located to enjoy all this area has to offer!

House Rules
We are a professional family and looking to share our home with similar. There's no smoking in our home. Quiet hours are between 10PM-8AM on weekdays, and 11:30PM-9AM on weekends. Please be aware this is a family and pet friendly neighborhood and sound travels well. Also, please do not exceed the amount of guests decided on during your stay. The house sleeps 6 (the charge is for 3 persons with an additional fee for more than 3 up to 6). We will be close by but not in the house with you.
The house is fully insulated from top to bottom and the roof is made of the original slate tile.
To ensure your safety and comfort we offer a person-less entry and ask that you respect the check-in time so that our housekeeper can best prepare the home for your visit.
For those that have sensitivities to allergies (as I do):
Because this is an older home, all walls in the house have brand new paint, all carpet has been removed (other than area rugs) from the main house and hard-woods refinished. There are hypoallergenic pillows on all the beds. The bedding is designer and covered with down-alternative bedspreads. You will find this home comfy and unique nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains and culture.
