Positive: The apartment is really well located: quiet and private and a 20 metre walk onto the piste! The bed was super comfortable and the apartment is really clean. In the daytime it is cosy and warm. Lots of cultery provided and plates. The ski cave was helpful and parking was no problem. The decoration is like a blast from the past and shows some of the history of Cogne; we loved this and felt it was charming. In the summer, the garden must be a great advantage, with a fabulous view. Communicating with the host was easy and getting into the apartment was simple.
Negative: In the photographs there is a microwave which is no longer there. Also, there are pillows on the sofa bed in the front room making it look cosy. In fact there are 4 of the thinnest cushions I've ever met and thus you cannot sit on the sofa because the metal back is super uncomfortable. We had to improvise and pull out the bed and sort of semi lie down to get comfy. All it needs is some big, firm cushions to make it better. The sofa is where people want to sit. The heating goes off from 6-9 pm which is when we were eating dinner so not the best time to economise. Conversely, it runs hot at night which seems excessive and unnecessary. Also, the kitchen is oddly stocked in that there are loads of plates, yet only two mugs, all of the frying pans are bent and bevelled so cooking anything evenly was a disaster. The oven works well but there is not one dish to use to cook with! Not for a quiche or anything so I'm not sure how you are supposed to use the oven. We had to buy an oven dish. To be honest, for over 100 euros a night I thought this was pretty annoying. Not one tablet for the dishwasher either. I think such small details are what make life easy for visitors. We rent an apartment so that we can cook so some kitchen basics are what people need. With just a small bit of attention the place could be an absolute 10.
