Positive: There were SO many wonderful things we enjoyed about this property! It is stunningly beautiful & the location is truly perfect! We were able to enjoy all the best parts of Rockport within minutes! The overall beach cottage decor spoke to my love of the ocean & the inspirational quotes, scriptures & poems throughout the house was an encouragement to my faith as well. It truly felt like a home away from home. We enjoyed sleeping late in the super cozy beds, having a nice, hot cup of coffee on the back patio while admiring the beautiful landscaping, sprawling oak trees & glistening pool! In the evenings, we had a blast making s'mores over the fire pit, grilling outdoors & playing games on the large dining room table. It was very nice to have a selection of complimentary games to enjoy, although we did have to do some "snooping" around the cabinets to find them. The owner, Charles, was very kind & sent a personal "welcome" txt on the day we arrived. The next day I reached out to him about a couple of minor maintenance issues just to let him know the situation for future reference & in less than an hour, he had someone from Ms Kitty's over to set everything right. These were minor inconveniences & not pressing issues, but I appreciated his swift action!
Negative: As a personal business owner, I notice the small things. Details make a huge difference to me. Even with an exceptional property, there is always room for improvement. The guest welcome booklet looks a little disheveled. I would suggest something more professional with some durability to it, so it represents the owners & reflects the style of the home. The hot tub is one of the amenities that we were looking forward to enjoying & one of the reasons we selected this particular rental, as hot tubs are hard to come by. Unfortunately, the hot tub was not working. When I spoke with the owner, Charles, I mentioned that we followed the operational directions, but the hot tub was not heating up. That's when he mentioned that Ms Kitty's has been informed to make a notation on the listing that the hot tub is not in working order on more than one occasion. I double checked the listing & it is still showing the hot tub as an amenity. 😔 Although bringing your own mosquito repellent is suggested, I had no idea how much we would truly need it. Those mosquitos are big & thirsty! It would be wonderful if there was a perimeter misting system to help keep these pests under control. There are also lots of crazy ants to keep you company out back as well. So, be sure to heed the warning & definitely bring your own pest control. 😉 The only other issue is that the housekeeper missed a few places around the house when cleaning. The underside of one of the toilets was not thoroughly cleaned. There was a huge dusty hairball in the corner of one of the bedrooms. I threw away a quarter size piece of brisket that was left under the cupboard in the kitchen next to the stove, Several places needed a good dusting & walking on the floor barefoot left our feet looking & feeling dirty. Truly, minor issues, but given the cleaning fees that are charged, I feel the kind owners should be getting cleaning services as exceptional as their home.
