Positive: Peaceful extensive and well maintained grounds with a lovely natural pool. Beautifully presented breakfasts with lovely fresh pastries, cakes, cured meats, cheeses, preserves and cereals. Fresh fruit, eggs done in various ways and good coffee. Very useful having a kettle in the room. Nice shower room with bidet-always a plus-and plenty of towels. Bed was very comfortable and the location naturally dark and quiet. We were given extra pillows without asking after needing to use seat cushions on the first night. The room was a good size and air conditioned .The owner was very helpful with information and responses prior to our arrival. The family is very respectful of guests’ peace and privacy but helpful when needed.

Negative: The lighting in bedroom and bathroom is very dim-it was difficult to read or do make up etc. We felt we needed to go outside but the outside seating was often wet after rain.The only mirror is in the bathroom-another would be good near an electrical socket and a mirror for doing hair or make up or for shaving. A light in the shower would be useful too. Decor is very old fashioned and drawers smelt rather fusty. I found medication from a previous guest in a drawer and a lot of dust behind bedside cabinet, though the overall impression was of cleanliness. We were bitten (presumably)by mosquitoes very many times at night in the room, as there was no mosquito repellent. We had windows and door closed and there is also a screen at the window. There is no food whatsoever aside from breakfast (or dinner at 1930 if you order it)so when we arrived having travelled all day without lunch it was hard. We’d have heartily welcomed the offer of even a biscuit or a piece of fruit. It’s essential to follow the directions sent by Sasso Matto not the address on Booking .com.
