Positive: The view and wonderful spacious outdoor living space of the villa was a highlight. A beautiful pool, outside dining and lounging area makes it comfortable to live outdoors and enjoy the beautiful view and weather. The house is a charming authentic Sicilian home, which made us feel immersed in the culture and living like locals. The bedroom AC was essential and worked well and made sleeping comfortable. Our host Gianni and his wife were friendly and he popped by each morning at 7am to clean the pool and make sure we had anything we needed, but was never intrusive. The local town was charming and had everything that we needed. It's not a touristy area, but we felt welcome and enjoyed exploring the stores, restaurants and beach areas. It was very helpful to access to the laundry machine. There were 6 adults in the house, and we all felt very comfortable in the home. The outdoor/pool bathroom and shower were a bonus.
Negative: While North Americans are accustomed to the entire house being air conditioned, only the bedrooms had AC which seems typical in the area. Once we adapted to this and kept the shutters closed during the hot days and windows open in the evening it was comfortable; and the windows and doors have screens which is great.
Summary: We had a wonderful stay at comfortable Villa Gemma di Mare with it's stunning sea views.
