We are offering Bedroom Acacia. This bedroom is on the ground floor. We have a double bed that can also be separated into 2 single beds if needed. In the room there is also a small single bed for a child. Cots are available. There is a private shower room and toilet. Open all year, Gite du Calme offers a bijoux Bed & Breakfast, just 3 rooms in total. There is a communal kitchen with a mini bar and an elegant communal lounge. We are between Cognac and Saintes departments 16 & 17. We have a large garden within the Cognac vineyards, we have a pool, ping pong, trampoline, archery and badminton. We accept dogs, however, we have the last word on what dogs and how many can stay at one time! We are very close to the river Charente and close to all commerce. A wonderful corner of SW France with great fresh food markets, bars, restaurants and shopping. Close to the beaches at Royan and Meschers. Gite du Calme is managed by a family who are private hosts who live and maintains the property all year.

Summary: Well located property in very quiet area. Gite has potential and is physically as described. However, some attention to detail is lacking to make this a super place to stay. For example - did not appear to have had a thorough clean certainly not a start of season welcome as cobwebs evident and lots of large insects around the house. Internet not working for first 24 hrs - host responded by buying a replacement router which was much better. We gave up trying to tune in the TV for some home news. Wanted to use oven on our last night but unable to get working for supper. Swimming pool not usable as looked a horrid shade of pale green. A pity really as a large house with potential but not enough care taken to make it suitably attractive at the price charged.
