Formerly linked to a parchment manufacturing activity occupied by monks from the Cluny Abbey then transformed into a "filatrie" (weaving loom), the site now hosts a craft & gourmet exhibition gallery (partially open to the public). Calm & tranquility nestled in a dead end, on the edge of a small alley, in the heart of a picturesque typical village, full of charm & perfectly preserved, rich in small shops & a notable heritage (including a listed 11th century Romanesque church). Nestled on the banks of the Grosne in the hollow of the gentle rolling Clunisoise countryside, at the foot of the wooded hills of the Massif Sud Bourgogne (vast wild forest area), on a site protected in ZNIEFF & Natura 2000 Zone (for its faunal & floristic riches), Cormatin benefits from a sublime landscaped setting of bucolic meadows & groves in close proximity to the vineyards.
