To avoid any confusion, potential guests should thoroughly read ALL information below before requesting to book. (We promise that the info below will better prepare you for your trip and answer 99% of your questions!) Thank you! **Please note that this property shares a yard with another rental—the main house—located at the front of the property. You will have full use and privacy in the Honeymooner’s Hut, but you may share the outdoor fire pit area with other guests who may be renting the main house, which sleeps up to 9 people. For those curious about the main house on the property, it is called the “Oak Street Abode,” and can be found by clicking on our profile. The only shared space between the main house and the Honeymooner’s Hut is the outdoor area.**
UNIT PERKS:
--Welcome to the Honeymooner's Hut! The perfect little getaway for two people (three if you're bringing a child), to enjoy stylish simplicity!
--This cozy rental includes a small kitchen with a retro fridge/freezer, sink, stove, oven, microwave, toaster oven, blender & coffee maker.
--Essentials like plates, cups, cookware, utensils, & paper towel will be provided for your use. The small bamboo kitchen table seats two. (Please note that there is not a dishwasher at this property.)
--Along with coffee, creamer and sweetener are provided.
--Cooking spray or oil, salt/pepper are provided. Brands provided depend on what's in stock at local stores, so if you have specific brand/flavor preferences for these items, please feel free to bring your own. :)
--Small beach toys for kids and a large woven beach towel is provided for each guest.
--There is enough space for two (2) cars to park in beside the home.
--There is one small bathroom with a shower.
--There is an outdoor firepit with chairs to enjoy; please see additional information labeled "OUTDOOR SPACE" below.
--A hair dryer and showering essentials/bath towels are available. Hangers and a dresser are provided for clothing storage. There is also an iron and ironing board.
*Please note: This home shares outdoor space with a larger house (which sleeps 9) in the frontyard. While both sets of guests will have their own private home/interior space, the outdoor space around the firepit may be shared with guests who are renting the main house (up to nine people).
SLEEPING SET UP:
The Honeymooner's Hut sleeps max of 3 people in the following areas:
--Studio Bedroom: One king bed (2 people) and one fold out couch (1 child). Note that this studio IS cozy/small, and three adults would very likely NOT be comofortable in this space. Additionally, the kitchen table only accommodates two. We included the small sleeper sofa in this space for parents who may want to bring their young child, but the studio is ideally set up for two--hence the "Honeymooner's Hut" title. ;)
TECHNOLOGY:
--A flat screen smart TV is hooked up in the studio, though we recommend the outdoors over the tube! ;)
--High Speed Wifi is provided.
--There is NO washer/dryer access in this home, but there are laundromats available nearby.
OUTDOOR SPACE:
--The shared outdoor space in the backyard has 12 plastic adirondack chairs and a firepit. Please note that guests are responsible for bringing their own firewood, and that you may see additional guests from the main house in the backyard/around the firepit as well. While the yard is fully fenced, neighbors on both sides do have dogs. The dogs DO bark when they see new people; although we've found that they typically taper off after we've been outside for awhile.
ADDITIONAL INFO:
We welcome guests of all backgrounds! However, due to prior disrespectful renters and property damage, we will only be accepting booking requests from:
--Users who already have positive reviews.
--Users who have provided verified government ID.
--Renters that are above the age of 25.
--Renters who are not bringing pets.
We value our relationship with our neighbors, so events/gatherings/parties are not to be held by guests. In order to keep the home in excellent condition for future guests, we are firm on these rules. We apologize for this inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.
***As hosts, we have sustained damages to our properties in the past. Because we value our relationships with our neighbors and because we aim to keep the properties in top condition, we do require guests to have previous positive reviews from past trips. If you do not have previous positive reviews from past trips, we do require a fully refundable $500 damage deposit. The deposit is returned on your day check out when the cleaning team arrives and confirms the property is in good condition.***
***Note that if you are bringing infants/babies, the house is NOT baby-proofed. (Furniture is not secured to walls, outlet blockers are not included, cabinets/drawers are not locked, etc.) We also do not have a pack-and-play/portable crib, so guests will need to bring their own.***
***Please note that while there are no steps to enter this home, it IS a very small studio without much elbowroom. There is also a small step down into the bathroom, and we've left just enough room for the "essentials." Those who are not able bodied may find it difficult to navigate this studio simply due to the space restraints. CHECK-IN INFO:
--Guests who book will receive detailed check-in instructions and a key code for entry on the morning of their scheduled arrival. All of this will be communicated through messenger.
--Please note that Michigan City is on Central Standard Time (CST). Check-in is between 4 and 9 p.m.; guests must check out by 10 a.m. so that we can clean/prepare for our next renters before they arrive.
--Our cancellation policy is moderate.
